Hi all, when the tensioner pulley locked up, the friction between the belt and several pulleys resulted in melted rubber sticking to the surface of the pulleys. Now it is semi-dried on, and very difficult to remove. Do you guys have any suggestions as to how to properly clean the gluey glop off these pulleys? Main probllem is on smooth pulleys. Grooved ones are in pretty good shape. Thx, Pop

If they’re metal, used a stiff/coarse wire wheel or cup brush mounted in a drill or remove them and do the same thing on a bench grinder with a wire wheel on it. If they’re plastic, you probably need new but you can try the wire wheel and it might leave the pulleys ok if you’re really precise about it.

The pulleys are metal. I will try the wire wheel and report back my results. Thank you!

Grinding the glop off the pulleys with a wire cup on a drill worked great.

            Thank you!

Glad I could help, it’s exactly why I’m here.
