It’s actually quite common for Hondas of that vintage and it usually ends up being the electronic speed sensor located on the transmission. It’s actually quite easy to replace and not that expensive. If you have a D4 light flashing pull the code, if it’s for a speed sensor I would replace it and recheck for the condition.
