Ok group here is my issue at hand. I have a 95 honda civic 1.5 dx. recently I had it die on me while driving. Wouldn’t turn over, nothing. Replaced the main relay, worked, then did the crank no start, but now the CEL was on and throwing a 0 code (bad ecu.) So I replaced it thinking that was it. Car started with new one, week later.. same issue.. but off and on now. So I am having a crank no start at moments, but otherwise will turnover and start and run perfectly no issues on other moments which would leave me to think there is a loose wire, short something going on. I have tested the MAP sensor and I am currently not getting 5 volts, where should I trace this back to? I just learned.. yes just.. so I am going to test ALL my fuses once I get home, to include the 7.5 under the hood to the ecu. Is there any other advice and or tips?

New altinator, new distributor, new ecu, new main relay, new ignition switch.

Honda had a bad time with ignition switches crapping out around that time frame or a little bit later. Try Eric’s common-sense test, when it starts and runs, go and gently tap and wiggle the key and ignition switch, maybe like 5 degrees of turning and jiggle it in and out with medium finger force. If the car dies, that tells you the ignition switch is intermittent.

Very common. My 1998 Odyssey did this, in 2005, 10 miles from home, on the same day I got canned from a good job. Some days!

ya, i already had that issue… I replaced the entire ignition switch and wires with a brand new set. I’m HOPING it was my oversight of not checking the fuses properly with my multimeter… after that I’m lost for words.

Thanks, I’ve tried that. But here is what I have came to:

cleaned the grounds, including the ground at the thermostat housing.

Performed the “K-test” which failed, read less than 1 volt on multimeter.

tried jumping main relay pins #1 and #7, no result in pump priming. (current relay is new, as well as current ecu)

This is leading me to think of a wiring issue. I did a continuity test and all fuses under hood and dash, all pass no problem. The 15A fuse in the 31 spot is also good. (ecu fuse)

My next idea is to check for power coming from the 31 fuse to the ecu. Does anyone know which wire under the fuse box powers the ecu? and would it be pin A25 I would check.

Any other ideas would be awesome. Thanks guys.. and gals..
