Does it otherwise idle normally?

If your holding it to the floor your in clear flood mode. I would check
for spark when this happens. If spark is weak your not going to light off the fuel.
Also check that your tb is clean. The above links should help.Sounds like it is flooded if you are holding your foot to the floor to crank. Possibly a leaking injector or coolant leaking into one of the cylinders causing a hard start condition. Also possible you just have a bad fuel pump check valve that is bad allowing the system pressure to drop off rapidly. Not all cars have clear flood crank. not sure if this one does or does not.
It could be flooded as many have suggested. You might pull one of the plugs to see if it’s soaked with fuel. If it is, then it probably is flooding. The next step is to find it’s cause. The information in this article may be helpful.
