This bolt is stuck half way out. Not sure if I should put it back in or pull it out, or leave it 1/2 way. Feels like the threds are going to bust.

      Any thoughts?

Penetrating oil, and be very… very.. slow, careful, and deliberate about trying to get that bolt in or out.

I’d not leave it 1/2 in.. I’d finish it. Try going back in the opposite direction and backing it out again?

        Good luck.. and be careful!

There is some penetrating oil spray called “KROIL” made by an outfit named Kano. You can score it here: http://www.amazon.com/SiliKroil-Penetrating-Solvent-aerosol-SILIKROIL/dp/B0003041WK/ref=pd_bxgy_auto_img_z
READ THE CAN INSTRUCTIONS and keep it off plastic or vinyl.

We use this stuff quite a bit to free fasteners on commercial airplanes. Works great. Once you get it a good spritz, give it some time and then put a 6 point socket on it, turn it gently right and then left repeatedly until you find it start to loosen. Repeatedly apply the Kroil and continue to gently turn left and right. It should come out. Then check the threads and make sure you’ve got the right size plug in there/

Nice pix btw. Can I get a half-dozen wallet size?

            UPDATE

Last night I hit it with some wd40 (said it was penetrating formulated). So today when I gave it a try, it would move. Managed to back it all the way out. So glad I got it out.

            Thanks for all the suggestions!

Take it out and measure the depth inside where the bolt goes in and see if there is enough depth for the bolt to go in all the way. It may be too long and tightening it will cause more problems. If it is find a shorter bolt.

glad the WD-40 worked. but seriously get some real penetrating oil like PB-Blaster, or Liquid Wrench Penetrating Oil, or Kroil. makes a huge difference.
