Has anyone had this issue? The AC Compressor cycles on/off fast, you can hear the clutch click, click, click, and when you are at an idle, such as a stop light, the engine idle is rough, and the RPMs bottom out. If I turn the AC off, no guarantee it will come back on, but the idle smooths out. The compressor, drier, and evacuator valve were replaced in 2011. The car runs great in cold/cool weather, but when the temperature is above 85 degrees the engines idle is rough when stopped at a light, and that’s without the AC on. So I know there’s an idle issue, but why the click, click, click on the compressor?

The compressor clutch is normally activated by the high pressure switch, and can also be deactivated by the low pressure switch. If you are low on refrigerant, the low pressure switch shuts down the compressor, first intermittently, then as the pressures get lower, permanently.
Sounds similar to what you described.
