Hey i have a 1995 Chevy lumina 3.1, the problem is that it randomly stalls out of no where and afterwards it has a hard time starting back up, until you let it cool down

Now it does have a check engine light when this happens but it was that weird year where they were transitioning to OBD2, and my OBD1 is missing the B wire it only has two wires in it

Now i’ve replaced the valve cover gaskets along with all the other smaller gaskets on the top end, I’ve replaced the IAC, the rear crankshaft sensor, the crankshaft sensor under the harmonic balancer, the main seal, the harmonic balancer, the cam shaft sensor, throttle position sensor, cleaned the throttle body along with the EGR valve

And it only does it when the engine is hot and when it stalls sometimes it makes a choking sound by the engine, when it stalls and i try to turn it back in pressing the accelerator sometimes stalls the engine, i checked the fuel pressure and it seems fine, also what i’ve noticed is if i turn the AC on the highest level it makes the engine stall, theirs no dim lights at all i checked the battery and the voltage is fine even when running.

I have an 03 malibu 3.1 as well. Our symptoms sound identical and I’ve tried almost everything you have. Did a compression test and it checked out fine. Only occurs once engine is hot, but once it occurs it happens more and more during that drive. Seems to help to press on accelerator to get it going again after it dies. I’ve replaced IAC, EGR, PCV, plugs, wires, battery, coils, valve cover gaskets, cleaned throttle body… I never get a check engine light. Im thinking fuel pump or relay but this has literally been going on for months and I am stumped. Maybe the same with yours?

Fixed mine yesterday! It was the MAP sensor. I recommend you to do a fuel pressure test. Sounds like a fuel pump ( I replaced mine too)

Thanks for the update. I’ll probably give map and maf both a shot. Both are cheap enough. Never would have suspected those. I’d think if it was a fuel pump she would be dead by now
