any CEL codes? did it run better with the fuel pressure at 50? you would need to cover the vacum line with your finger while you have it unplugged.

I did a tune up on this vehicle already and found a broken wire on the coil which i replaced. i did complete tune with wires, plugs, cap rotor. When under load, it acts like it surges or doesnt quite take the gas..but i wouldnt really say its a misfire more

I have no codes. I didnt really pay attention to if it ran better at 50..the spec is 40-50 with the key on,engine off..fuel pressure seemed a little on the low side but it was steady and maintaining it withJuly 13, 2012 at 11:00 am #459787Quoted From turning_wrenches: _x000D_

the clicking in the idle control has me wondering why its doing that..like compensating for some other problem ._x000D_

that is just what i was thinking or the IAC is the issue.July 13, 2012 at 11:00 am #459788you mite also check for any vacuum leaks aswell
July 15, 2012 at 11:00 am #459789You can try tapping on the IACV to see if that will make any difference in idle. Im not 100% sure if a bi-directional scan tool will be able to energize the IACV with it been a 95 model year which was the cross over from OBD1 to OBD2._x000D_

Also here is EricJuly 16, 2012 at 11:00 am #459790I don’t know if the bubbles in the fuel is significant or not but your readings for fuel pressure do seem low although I don’t know the spec.

I’m also not sure if low fuel pressure would cause the surge conditioJuly 17, 2012 at 11:00 am #459792The fact that you have narrowed it down to temp related suggests to me at least the coolant temp sensor.

Has it had a fuel filter lately?_x000D_
+1 on checking the temp sensor.July 18, 2012 at 11:00 am #459795Do you have access to a scope to see the cam and crank wave forms?_x000D_

Also, i am not a big fan on putting nothing but AC Delco plugs in a GM. Each to there own though. C8-)July 18, 2012 at 11:00 am #459794Forgot to mention that i did install a fuel filter and i checked live data on the temp sensor it read 199 degrees at the time and climbing to 204.. also the o2 sensor was switching constantl from lean to rich.. so it seemed to be working ok there..I dont
July 19, 2012 at 11:00 am #459796I have no tools to stress test the ignition system..Yea i would have rather put ac plugs in it also..but the boss had brighter ideas..Well an update..i did try a ignition module and the car did seem to run great for a long time..till it got really hot the
July 20, 2012 at 11:00 am #459797Surging isn’t something I normally associate with the ignition system, mostly I see no starts and misfires, surging normally comes from a mixture problem and since you say it appears temperature related perhaps we should look there.
