I have a 95 Buick regal it seems to stutter or hesitate at steady speeds of 40 to 50 mph… I have changed the TPS, iac,MAF sensor,PCV,ECM,fuel filter plugs , plug wires , had a fuel system service done on it…. To no avail… No check engine light is on nor has it ever been.. Any ideas of what my problem could be? …. Even with no check engine light on is it worth having a dealership do a diagonistic service???…. My 95 regal only has 70,000 miles on it….. Oh I also had a tech at a local transmission shop drive my car and he said it shifts perfect

Yes I checked for vacume leaks… Found none….. How do I stress test the ignition system? Honestly I’m not sure of the brand of plugs and wires… I had a local shop do it for me..

At this point, you might want to bite the bullet and have it diagnosed. It seems like you have thrown half the control system at the car ‘to no avail’.

My 95 regal with the 3800 v6 seems to stumble or hesitate while holding steady speeds at around 40 to 50 mph… I have replaced the TPS,PCV,iac, fuel filter,ECM,maf sensor , plugs, plug wires, had a fuel system service done on it,, had a transmission tech drive it and he said it shifts perfect… All the stuff I have done hasn’t helped,,, I have checked for vacume leaks and found none… What could be my problem? There isn’t a check engine light on and never has been on in the two years I have owned the car… It only has 70,000 miles on it.. Any ideas on what could be the problem? Or any ideas on what to check or test? Please help

              Welcome to the forums.

Why did you replace all those parts already?

Did you check for vacuum leaks?

What brand and type of plugs did you use?

Did you stress test your ignition system?

Is it worth having it diagnosed even if it does not have a check engine light on?

Without a check engine light you need to start with the basics, since you already replaced the plugs you might want to check fuel pressure and compare it to spec, you may be able to ‘rent’ a gauge from your local auto parts store. You also stated that you already checked for vacuum leaks but you might want to check again as that engine is prone to intake gasket leaks which could cause performance problems similar to what you describe.

It sounds like Air / fuel to me if you have done all that. I have had 2 3800’s and a 3400 series engine, so I have dealt with these some. I would have the car hooked up to a computer and get the codes its dumping. This is a good place to start. I would think it could be an injector. O2 sensor or a fuel pump.

Put I am sure its dumping codes, that is where I would start. I think a 95 should have a way to show you the codes via the dash.. do some googling to find out.

I agree with checking fuel pressure. I would also perform a power balance test to see if its spark or fuel injector
related. check out this video and do this test. post back on what you find.one last question. is your air filter clean?C8-)

it could be a valve problem but if its in as good of shape as you say i dont know. i had that problem once from putting olg gas in my car but it ran throgh with some dry gas or fuel injector cleaner, (even though my car isnt fuel injected) but it fixed it.

I just want to thank every one that has tried helping me figure this out… Thank you all very much….. I just took my car to a Buick dealership and had them do a once over on it…. They concluded that the torque converter is not locking up… Or locking up…. Not sure whitch phrase is the correct one .. But yea… Car only has 70,000 ish miles on it but I’m not sure I want to put that kind of money in it knowing I can’t get it back out of it when I want to get a new truck… Cause I’m not a car person … I can make more money with a truck…. But any ways I’m rambling … Thank you all… If any one in or near North Carolina wants to buy a 1995 Buick regal …. Hit me up .. Lmao

Very interesting indeed. Did they explain to you how they diagnosed the issue and what steps they took?

I agree with my boy Dreamer. I’m not sure how a TCC not locking up would cause a ‘stutter’ or ‘hesitation’…
