      Hi,

This is sort of a continuation of my last post, “Me and my rotors”

Ok, in my continuing quest replace the rotors bearings and drive axels on my 95 accord, I’ve gotten most things apart, but the hub and the bearing are still stuck together. In Erics video, he uses secret tool “XD45″, which of course, I don’t have. What I do have is the back end of a 1/2” drive 36mm socket for my air wrench, which seems to fit the area that needs to be pounded on. Do you guys think what will work, or do I need somethind else?

As always, any advice is appreciated.

      Ron

providing the socket is just small enough to pass through the bearing as it drives the hub out it should suffice , providing you have a way to support the bearing while having enough clearance for the hub to move. if so… lube the heck out of it and pound away.

That will probably work but if this is a second post to the one that you already started it kind of puts things off track and makes it hard to follow what the fix ends up being.

            Hi,

Yeah, I thought about that. The original post was about getting the rotors separated, and that worked fine. I thought that getting the bearing out was a different enough idea that I wanted to separate it from the rotor discussion. But, if you prefer, I’d be happy to copy this thread there and get rid of this one.

Thanks again for all the help. The videos are super, especially when the instructions in things like the Chilton book, I think it was, shows some of these parts just magically coming free. 🙂 ..

            The adventure continues……

I think what I remember doing was using some long bolts. I installed the bolts into the wheel bearing so that they lined up diagonally. Then I just tightened them into the hub. As you tighten them they push the bearing away from the hub. The fun part is getting the inner race out – try to get a grinder or something and cut a groove into the bearing a little bit. Next, you stick in chisel or something similar into that groove and hit it really hard. The metal is so brittle it will fracture and you can peel the race off.

Any idea where to get an XD45? I have looked on ebay and on the web and nothing found. Does it have another name? Thanks
