Hello again.
I was driving my accord to and from work today and noticed something wrong.
When driving in 2nd, 4th, and 5th (only happened twice in 5th but always in 2nd and 4th) the stick would move toward neutral when releasing the throttle. It wasn’t coming out of gear at all, and would move back to the regular position when getting back on the throttle. I felt it originally in my hand when shifting into 2nd and 4th (the gear would grab the stick getting off the clutch). I tested the other gears and can’t see any movement on 1st or 3rd at all.
My boss was telling me that her car did something similar after a clutch was put in, apparently the flywheel wasn’t smooth and destroyed the new clutch disc. The thing is that she said it would actually pop out of gear and only in 5th until the clutch shredded.
Could this be a clutch problem like that, or a serious transmission problem?
The clutch fluid looks new, but I’m not ruling anything out.
The car is kind of hard to shift, it sometimes gets harder as the car drives longer. I also feel vibration in my feet while driving, but I don’t hear any abnormal noises. The clutch is grabbing fine as well.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

I added a video, it is hard to see on the camera.

Usually if the fly wheel was glazed or burnt the clutch would slip.
Check the fluid level and condition. If it was popping out of gear
thats usually teeth missing on that gear.

It’s not popping out of gear it just moves slightly when I get on and off the throttle. Wouldn’t I have trouble engaging the gear if the teeth were bad?
I don’t really have to slam it in gear, it’s just stiff in and out of gear. I am planning to change the fluid anyways after seeing this. Could it be a bad shift linkage or shifter bushing?

I was just pointing out the teeth symptoms I don’t believe this is your issue. Your right with the bushings first.

I understand. There is always the possibility I could have to replace the tranny. I have never seen this before so I am curious on the cause. I have been looking online and see nothing about slight movement, just popping out of gear. Since mine stays in gear I’m thinking it’s not the tranny (I could be wrong). How can I test the shifter bushing or linkage?

I uploaded another video of me playing with the shifter while the car is off. I hear some clunking and squeaking while shifting.

Thanks. I am a little concerned about it, my shifter doesn’t have that much free play, but I don’t want to believe it’s the tranny. All tranny problems I have seen have a sound to go with it. With the engine off it seems to shift fine maybe a little stiffer than it should be, but I’ve driven a bunch of Hondas and as far as I can tell, they are all a little resistant. I’ll have to look at those bushings, or maybe the cables. I’m not sure what it is. The car does need a speed sensor, I have heard of those messing up the shifting of an auto, but I’m not sure if it will with a stick.

One more question. I was thinking about the hard shifting and was wondering if maybe my clutch is dragging. It’s not slipping or leaking fluid, at least not from the reservoir. Is it possible that the slave or master aren’t working prooerly?

Nevermind the tranny is making noise, very slight, had to have the door open to hear it. It sounds like the ISB. I’m changing the fluid.
I was thinking of draining or, then using 10w30 in the trans for a few miles to get the crud out, then draining that and replacing it with honda mtf.
I’m sure it won’t fix my problem but I’m hoping that it buys me some time.
Does this sound like a good idea?

Will it fix it? worth a shot.

That’s what I was thinking, I have heard that it can cause slipping of gears, but I don’t know how bad this tranny is.
Had anyone had this happen to them?

So I changed the fluid. The car only had a quart in it, looks like it’s leaking from the passenger side axle. I just put in the oil for now. I got the Honda mtf, but per recommendation from the dealer I’m leaving the motor oil in there for now. He said go a couple days them change it again, let the stuff splash around and then check it again.
There was nothing in the fluid to raise alarm but there is definitely a sound.

She is shifting like a champ now. The fluid that came out was really light viscosity and dark color, but didn’t smell bad.

Also that isn’t oil on the carpet. It’s snowing outside, I pulled a chunk in with me.
