Car needed front wheel bearings badly. Followed Eric’s video on this and had some trouble. Tried banging the hub out with a tool similar to Eric’s. Wouldn’t budge. Rented a slide hammer, installed back on car-didn’t budge no matter had hard it was slammed. heated it-nothing. Bought a 12 ton shop press (which I wanted to get anyway) and couldn’t figure a way to position it to press the bearing off. Bad Day!
Bought (2) new FEQ hubs for $110, had MOOG bearings already and pressed them on. Shop wanted $50 each to press them off. What a ripoff! Anyway, job done. Eric’s video was great but I’m wondering if anyone else has run into this problem?

I had that happen a couple of times some just needed to be put in the press others needed to be pressed and heated and beaten on.
Sometimes these things just need to be beaten into submission.I would just replace it with one from the salve yard. It would take you alot less time and save you the headache.
The truth is I normally slide hammer the hub out of the bearing before removing the knuckle from the car. I could not do that in the case of the vehicle that was used in the video because the lower ball joint had broken. That said, I have had issues and difficulty getting the old bearings out in the past. A lot of difficulty actually. I even think I mentioned that in the video. If I run into that problem I normally look for a bigger hammer. Also I can’t stress enough how the air hammer works well in that case. The vibrations tend to break them loose better. Also, it’s important to hammer around the knuckle to help break the bearing loose from the assembly. As for a press, you’re correct, there is no way to position it to remove it which makes it more of a challenge.
