I was thinking about doing a little work on the car to bring it back to a daily driver status, but I don’t know whether it would be worth it to rebuild the engine or buy a new one. I am going to attach pictuers of what I found when I took the timing cover off so that I can see whether I should replace the belt. I also have this coolant problem that occurs when the car is close to operating temperature. I don’t know when It started but I know that it cracked my last coolant reservoir because the pressure in the cooling system was so high. my friends mom was driving it one day and it ran hot on her, she put stop leak in it. a short time later the car cracked the reservoir and started shooting coolant everywhere. I replaced the reservoir and refilled the system and noticed this happening when the car ran hot on me while testing. the car has 191k+ miles on it idk the true mileage since the odo has stopped working. my main concern is whether I can get the car back to being my daily and what it will take.

That fountain of coolant kinda tells me you probably have a compression leak into the coolant system. It’s too bad that someone poured Stop Leak into it. Didn’t do you any favors.

I would first begin by doing a compression check and a leak down test. The results of those tests will help you decide what to do next.

i’ll have to go to the autozone and rent a compression tester, or go to harbor freight and buy one. i’ll get that don’t then post my results as soon as I can
