      I need help. I have a 94 accord ex that when I get to approx 175 miles / 1/2 tank it will stall and die she you stop hard. The harder you stop the quicker it stalls. Starts right back up and drives away. The more you keep driving (gas getting lower) the more it will do it. I’ve changed fuel pump, filter cleaned IAC valve. I’ve checked the ignition switch (shaking key like Eric’s video). I’ve read some people say vacuum leak, main relay, sending unit. But it runs amazing untill I get to 1/2 tank. I’m to understand its a 17 gallon tank so I should be able to go well over 300 miles before fill up. I can’t make it past 200. I get approx 26 mpg. Any help would be appreciated

        Your fuel sender unit might be reading incorrect.

          Everything I have found says I have 17 gallon tank so if I’ve only drove 170 miles I should have plenty of fuel left (like gauge says).

            It sounds like fuel delivery. You might want to recheck your fuel pump installation. Also check to see if any wires are getting pinched that supply voltage to the fuel pump. Honda fuel pumps rarely go bad and the aftermarket pumps I’ve seen aren’t as good in my opinion. In addition, if the baffles inside the fuel tank have broken loose, they can come in contact with the fuel pump and cause issues. Lastly, if there’s a lot of water in the tank it can also cause those symptoms.

              My plan tomorrow is to check the pump and try and look inside tank. One thing I tried because it was a quick thing to try and i wanted to see what would happen is– I found someone that said they had same problem and replaced sending unit and it never happened again. This does not make any sense to me but i figured id try it so i unplugged the sending unit and tried driving the car like that. Surprised me and wouldnt even start. So this tells me sending unit has a say whether the car runs or not. also its one of the only things that knows when fuel is at half tank which is when the problem starts and gets worse. So tomorrow ill be checking pump, tank, and sending unit.

                The fuel sender should not cause the car not to start unless it shares
                a common ground. check the grounds to the pump and sender.

                  So with the car cutting out at approx 1/2 tank and around 200 miles on odometer I pulled sending unit out and inspected it, cleaned it, tested it etc, then pulled fuel pump and inspected it, checked small fuel hose from top of pump to fuel line for leaks etc re-installed it, checked baffles in tank and checked for dirt, loose material in tank (very clean). Drove it till I got to 330 miles and to where I thought it would cause low fuel light to come on and I could not get it to sputter and die like it was doing. Turned hard corners and braked hard trying to get it to do it and it wouldn’t die. Sorry I don’t have a exact diagnosis of what it was but it was either the pump or the sending unit. Have not emptied second tank yet to see if it will die again but thanks for all your help sounds like it may be fixed. Also when I did fil up I put 14.3 gallons in tank.

                    I also grounded fuel pump light and it does work (bulb) but it did not ever come on but I filled up cause I was worried how low the actual gauge was.

                        Honda fuel pumps rarely have issues. It’s the aftermarket ones you have to watch out for. That said, as pointed out perhaps it was something in the installation. As for why it didn’t run with the sending unit disconnected, perhaps you also disconnected the fuel pump when you broke the connection. This might explain why your car didn’t start after that experiment.
