Welcome to the forums!
It sounds like the drums are rusted onto the hubs.
Here are a few video’s from Eric that will help –

Hubs are attached to the drum by the studs It’s not rusted together If the studs are driven out the hub will come out

Is this FWD or AWD?
Did you back off the shoes before removing the spindle nut?
The only way the whole hub would come out as a unit (drum, backing plate, shoes, hardware) is if you removed the 4 screws on the backing plate.
It’s a bearing hub in the drum there is no backing plate, it’s not the spindle the hub comes off with the drum

hi thanks for a fast reply but those videos didnt answer my question, I hope the photos may help abit better. Photo 1 is how my drums looks, Please view the lug post, NOW look and photo 2 this is a picture of my new drums without the lug post, now When the old drums are removed the lug nut threaded posts are still attached to the old drums while it is now in my hands and off the vehicle, how do i remove the lug posts and place them into the new drums.?
April 17, 2012 at 11:00 am #440838in other words when the old drums are removed and im holding it in my hands, it looks like the lug posts are made as one piece onto the drums

April 17, 2012 at 11:00 am #440840I beleive the hub has to be beat off with a hammer. But I really think they should come the hubs on new drums already
April 17, 2012 at 11:00 am #440841Put the hub back on the axle and tighten the nut up the drum will pull off of that might be rusted on pretty good so give it a couple taps with a hammer on the outside
Heres a video that should help you…

Hi i have a 93 Ply Gran Voyager LE and i now need to replace the brakes and the drums, the problem for me is not replacing the brakes, BUT its the drums, the lug nuts threaded posts are attached to the drums how do i remove the lug nut threaded post and place them in the new drums. I never had to replace the drums themselves before, but these drums need replacing badly.
Place the drum, that you have removed, on a couple boards with the studs facing up and with the outside edges of the drum on the boards so there is room for the hub to go down when the studs are driven out with a hammer (put lug nuts on the studs flush with the end of the stud so you do not destroy the threads of the stud). To install the studs and hub into the new drum just put a couple of washers or something like that on the studs (on the outside of the new brake drum between the outside of the drum and the lug nut) after you have set it up with the new drum and put the lug nuts on, equally tighten until the studs and hub are drawn into the holes of the new drum. When you tighten the lug nuts to draw the studs into the holes, start by tightening each one a little bit and tighten in the same pattern as you would tighten the wheel when you mount it on the studs. Hope this solves the problem

Yes, the hub needs to be beaten off with a hammer. He needs to place the drum, that he has removed, on a couple boards with the studs facing up and with the outside edges of the drum so there is room for the hub to go down when the studs are driven out with a hammer.
April 17, 2012 at 11:00 am #440844Are you sure you got the right replacement drum?

“chughes” did you look at the pics that were posted of the old drum on the spindle and the new drum?
The old drum is attached to the spindle with a nut and there is a bearing hub attached to the inside of the drum with the stud bolts holding to the drum. Did you watch the video you posted and pay attention to it? I think not. That video shows a rear drum configuration that does not have the spindle/hub/nut configuration as in his 93 Caravan. It is useless for him to watch this he does not have that system for his rear drums. He wants to find out how to remove the studs and hub from the old drum and install them in the new drum. Please correct me if I am wrong

That’s the way the replacement drum comes. The hub has to be removed from the old brake drum by knocking the studs out then transferring the hub to the new brake drum by drawing the studs and hub back in with the lug nuts and some spacers tightening them a little bit at a time all the way around until they are all seated

The studs hold the hub to the drum. You can use the old ones but I would go with new studs just to be safe
