      i have a 93 acura intregra 1.8L B18 DOHC (AUTO)
my car started making a loud knocking sound from the engine, so ever since i heard that noise i parked my car. so now i want to kno what are sum of my options that i have?!!
is this a big problem? when i start my car it makes that noise, if i try n drive it and still make that noise.

if i should sell my car how much do i sell it for??
if i should fix or replace the engine, how much is paying to much? also does size matters when it comes to replacing the whole engine with like a 2.0 engine. if so what type of engines will fit and that will continue to pass smog?

where can i find a good engine?

plz help me im going crazy with out a car!!!
      thank you

Loud knocking is not good. Once in a while it’s something minor, like the oil pickup tube, but more often it signals major engine wear or major damage due to a broken connecting rod.

The diagnostic test is to drop the oil pan and take a look-see. If it’s major damage, you need a new engine, at least $2,500 for a rebuilt one, about $1,100 for a pulled used one, plus maybe $1,000 to get it installed. it’s up to you to decide if the car is worth that big an investment.

But let’s hope it’s something minor.

I would put an ad on craigslist explaining as best you can what it is and what the noise is like.

Perhaps you will get some bids. I would not expect to get much for it unless it has a lot of good add on parts like fancy wheels.

so my best bet is to get the same type of engine?
are is a 2.0L engine good enough for my 1.8L

I would get a second opinion on the noise your car is making before I start looking at alternatives.

Did you check the oil level in the car?

Based on your description, I would say your engine is probably on it’s way out. A noisy engine without oil is not long for this world.

Be realistic. Don’t get in over your head with a replacement engine. If you install a different engine you’ll have to change a lot of things to match it including the PCM and wiring harness. You’re much better off putting in what came out. Also, make sure the car is worth it. It’s a 20 year old car after all. If the suspension and transmission are shot, there’s no sense putting an engine in it. You’d be better off getting something else in that instance.

Good luck and keep us posted.
