My 93 accord is displaying a D4 light blinking. No codes are given, just blinking in a regular sequence. Eric the car guy wrote a reply to someone else in the past indicating that a battery losing power can cause erroneus D4 codrs to diplay. This is exactly what happen in my case. My battery became dead over a few days, so i bought a new battery
After installing new battery and connecting positive and negative cables, turn ignition key to on position. Then the D4 began blinking and thus car will not start. Turns over, but will not start. I tried to reset by removing negative cable then reinstalling, but still displaying blinking D4. Jumping blue connector produces no codes. Eric or anyone with an idea on how to fix would be appreciated. Thank, Jim

Ok let start at the beginning…
When you short the Service check connector.
Do you get a flashing CEL indicator (ECU error(s) ) or just a flashing D4 indicator ( TCU error(s) ).

From the what I have seen, once you install the jumper to the connector and switch on the ignition.
You should be seeing something (not exactly ) like this:

This is the TCU/D4 codes for 1, 2, 7, 8, and 14 on a 1992 Honda Accord

As far as the D4 light when shorting the service connector, it just flashes in a steady continous flash, no pauses or different flash patterns, nothing like the video . And the D4 flashes the same way whether i short the service connector or not. When the igntion key is turned to the on postion, flashes in a steady continous flash as well.

I do have a check engine light as well. The code is 43, fuel supply or o2 sensor circuit. I was told that a leaky oil pressure swich can leak oil onto the o2 sensor connector, causing a cel light. I have verified that my oil pressure switch is in fact leaking. But have had this issue for awhile, but was still able to start and drive car.

Hmmmmm……………………
Have you checked all power and ground connections including the chassis and body.
Making sure for clean, tight connections
No corroded wiring.
Ground connections to the ECU & TCU are good.
Beyond that…
I hate to say it.. you may have a damaged ECU /TCU being your not getting any response when you put it in diagnostic mode.

Have not checked yet the connections, but i will. A few days ago, i removed both ECU and TCU and opened both up. Checked for leaky or burnt capacitors, but they look good. Resistors look good, and solder joints appear to be intact. Was thinking of purchasing capacitor and resistor kit and replace them.

Hmm, now im wondering if the battery drain issue itself has somehow damaged the ECU and TCU.

It’s possible.

Hey guys, just a FYI on what fixed the 93 accord D4 blinking light with no start. Turned out to be the main relay. Disassembled the main relay and parts of the circuit board (solder joints) were lightly discolored, lightly blackened. Installed a new main relay, turned key to on position, no blinking D4 light, and then started right up. What had me stumped was the blinking D4 light with no codes, so initially thought bad TCU, but that was not the case, TCU is good. I was not aware that a faulty main relay would set a blinking D4 light off. Hope this helps someone with same issue in the future, thanks.
