My 93 accord is displaying a D4 light blinking. No codes are given, just blinking in a regular sequence. Eric the car guy wrote a reply to someone else in the past indicating that a battery losing power can cause erroneus D4 codrs to diplay. This is exactly what happen in my case. My battery became dead over a few days, so i bought a new battery
After installing new battery and connecting positive and negative cables, turn ignition key to on position. Then the D4 began blinking and thus car will not start. Turns over, but will not start. I tried to reset by removing negative cable then reinstalling, but still displaying blinking D4. Jumping blue connector produces no codes. Eric or anyone with an idea on how to fix would be appreciated. Thank, Jim

When the D4 light blinks, it indicates an error has been detected by the transmission control module (TCM) and you need to retrieve the trouble code to find out what is wrong. It could result in erratic shifting and performance issues.

TCM Fault Codes
1. With ignition off, install jumper wire between terminals on service check connector. Service check connector is a 2-pin Blue connector, located at lower passenger’s corner of glove box, near kick panel. See Fig. 14 and Fig. 15. This will place TCM in self-diagnostic mode.

2. Turn ignition on. Fault codes will be displayed by blinking “D4” light on A/T gear position indicator on instrument panel.

3. Fault codes will be displayed by short and long blinks. One long blink equals 10 short blinks. For example, if a long blink is followed by 4 short blinks, this indicates Fault Code No. 14. See Fig. 16.

4. Once a fault code is obtained, determine probable cause and symptom. If any other fault codes except those listed are displayed, TCM is defective. Turn ignition off. Remove jumper wire or SCS service connector from service check connector.

NOTE:
If customer describes symptoms for Fault Code No. 3 and “D4” light is off or Fault Code No. 6, 11, it may be necessary to test drive vehicle to recreate the symptom and then check for trouble code with ignition still on.

Already jumped the service connector. No codes are given. No short or long blinks. Just a steady sequence of blinks constantly. As already mentioned, D4 started blinking because of a dead battery. There were no driving or shifting issues at all. Any ideas?

Put a paper clip, wire, connector in it to connect the two prongs.

2. Put the key in the ignition, and turn the key 2 clicks to the acc on, where all the lights light up on the dash.

3. You will now watch how many times the CEL light blinks.

a long blink = 10
a short blink = 1
It will repeat after all the codes are done.

Resetting ECU

1. Disconnect Negative battery terminal (never only take off the positive, cuz it can kill the battery when it grounds all the power out, if left for a while)

2. Look in the Under hood fuse box, find the “Hazard” Fuse. Pull it out.

3. Let the car sit for 10-15 minutes

4. Reattach neg battery terminal and put fuse back in

5. Restart car w/nothing on (radio, lights, a/c) and just let it run for a few minutes.

6. Turn off, and then it should be good to go.

Already did the ECU reset. No change. Still D4 blinking and no start. No ECU codes either.

What you stated you did to reset the ECU:
I tried to reset by removing negative cable then reinstalling, but still displaying blinking D4

The procedure listed:
Resetting ECU

1. Disconnect Negative battery terminal (never only take off the positive, cuz it can kill the battery when it grounds all the power out, if left for a while)

2. Look in the Under hood fuse box, find the “Hazard” Fuse. Pull it out.

3. Let the car sit for 10-15 minutes

4. Reattach neg battery terminal and put fuse back in

5. Restart car w/nothing on (radio, lights, a/c) and just let it run for a few minutes.

6. Turn off, and then it should be good to go.

I’m seeing only step 1 in your description of resetting the ECU

Interesting..
Wonder if your actually seeing a long blink = 10 or a short blink = 1 error code on either the
ECU
1 O2A – Oxygen sensor #1
10 IAT – intake air temperature sensor

or TCU
1-Lock-up solenoid ‘A’ circuit open or shorted.
10-Coolant Temperature Sensor open or shorted.

One other thing you might try..
Make sure everything is turned off.
Remove the hazard fuse again.
Disconnect the negative battery cable
Disconnect the positive battery cable
Hook a ground wire to the positive battery cable or tie the positive and negative together and leave it sit over night.
Grounding the positive will ensure any voltage stored in the electrical system will be dissipated.

Well, separated positive and negative cables from each other, reinstalled cables to battery, inserted fuse, and still blinking D4 with no start.

Do you show any other dash indicators besides the D4?
Do you hear any relays going active when you switch on the ignition?

All dash indicators light up normally and then turn off when i was able to start the car. I can definitely hear the main relay click when the ignition is switched to the on position.
