      Hello there,

The other day my Honda left me down…it only has 50.000 miles but apparently the bastard wanted some vacation! 😛

What happened was that all of the sudden going down the highway the engine simply shutdown, I only had time to pull over. I tryed to start it again but without success. The engine turns ok, but doesn´t start.

I already managed to circumscribe the problem to the ignition system because there is no current arriving at the spark plugs.

My question is, how can I determine what part is defective, is there any way to test the ignition coil? I´m planing to replace the rotor and distributor cap in any case but if it doesn´t work what else can I do?

      Thanks for your help

If the ignition system checks out, my next step would be to check the cam / crank position sensor.

At 50000 Mi it’s not likely but make sure the timing belt is not broken or stripped. If the sound of the engine cranking is different than before it might be worth checking.

The timing belt has been replaced 9 months ago as well as all other belts.

Like I said earlier the problem is in the ignition, but which one has failed? The cap, rotor or ignition module?

If the timing belt isn’t turning the camshaft you won’t have any spark.

Don’t think the cap or rotor would do that. Just make it run bad. Ignition module or on of the other sensors in the distributor went bad.
