2.3L, manual trans, no AC.. The temp by both the gauge and the vents hasn’t come up to temp since I bought the truck.
I replaced the thermostat thinking it was stuck open, and it persists. The fit of the thermostat in the housing is “different” from every other I have replaced, and I’m wondering if coolant is washing by, which would explain it.
By “different”, I mean the thermostat pushed into the housing, rather than sitting on the block, being retained by the housing.
Is a part missing? This has me going..

If im reading this right.. It seems to me like some one has bypassed the heater core.
I do have to place a 1+ to Eric and any of the others who said thermostat…

One other thing (I dont think this is it but maybe)

If some one has had issues with the truck over heating due to a cracked head or such…

Some one might have – Put a hi-output water pump or even a bigger radiator.
They might have even dumped some additives in to drop the temps.
Water Wetter, Purple Ice and other surfactants do help the cooling. Their claim to fame that they reduce operating temperatures is kinda bogus in that you have to have a problem with hot spotting that this product would aleviate. But there is worth to the products.
