First off i know this is a real problem with Honda. But here the deal i got a 92 prelude with a 2.3. Sometimes it has a hunting idle. During the summer no problem what so ever with it. Now that it cold its does it some times. But only when the the motor is not cold but not at running temp. On the prelude it has the gauge that has nothing when you start it then 1 line when it warming up like a quarter of the way up then 2 lines the half way point when it at running temp and so on. Well it only does it at the quarter mark and only sometimes no all the times. Not for a long time before it will stop doing it. Ive tried everything the ec has said in his hunting idle for Honda. Its got a new iacv and fitv are both new. Just cant seem to figure out whats doing it. It seems like the idle doesn’t kick down fast enough when it warming up and that what does it but not sure any help would be great ty in advanced sorry for the bad grammar i failed it in school lol

So you have a brand new FITV valve? Was it set right when installed? I am not a big Honda guy, but if I remember correctly those valves have to be adjusted.

no as fare as Ive read they come set out of the box there is no true way to set them. all you can do is kinda guess once you messed with them. out of everything Ive read that is

Yeah, looks like yours is the vertical valve with a wax pellet control. It is possible the valve did not seal well when installed.

I can’t think of anything else that causes that Honda idle hunting, hopefully Eric will be by he is quite amazing with Hondas.

Try so much for your help. But as I said before I tried everything that etcg hard said. Any chance could be to low of a thermostat in the car.
