92 chevy 1500 clutch

      I have a 92 chevy 1500 2wd I am putting in a throwout bearing and was wondering if it matters wich way the oblong part of bearing goes

          The oblong part is only there to stop the stationary part of the throw out bearing from rotating on the clutch fork. There isn’t much force there trying to turn it. They used to just use clips that attached it to the fork. It will fit and function either way. (oblong part facing toward open end of fork or not)

            It should only go one way, the smooth face should go against the pressure plate (smooth side against engine) when mounted to clutch fork.

              Personally I’m a bit confused as to what the ‘oblong’ side is that you’re referring to. If it were me I would try and put the new one on in the same orientation as the one you take off.

                Hey Eric, The oblong part is in the center of the bearing where the clutch fork goes. It stops the bearing from spinning on the fork. It doesn’t matter which way it faces (towards the open end of the fork or not)
