      Car was running fine when it was parked Sunday afternoon. Sunday night it wouldn’t crank (turnover).

      When turning key to start, there is nothing, no starter action at all, maybe an occasional click, but not every time.

      Since it was running fine when last driven and the oil level is spot on, I first checked battery with my crappy china multimeter. I got 12.22v on battery.

      Second, I checked starter fuse under dash, good.

      Third, I did solenoid continuity test per Helms manual. Continuity on pull-in but no continuity on hold-in (between S terminal and armature housing).

      Fourth, I checked voltage on black/white (S terminal) on solenoid while turning ignition key and got a 11.88v.

      Fifth, I tried running a wire from battery + to S terminal per Helms and nothing.

      Kind sirs, do any of you know anything else that I can check or do before pulling the starter? Any comments or suggestions are most welcome and much desired. Thanks.

        11.44V right at the solenoid should be enough to turn the starter. You did mentional that you measured approx battery voltage between battery positive and starter motor positive- is that correct. If it is, that means that battery voltage is not making it to the starter motor, which means there is an open somewhere along the path from battery + and the motor +, or the solenoind is not sending the high current into the starter motor windings.

          Fresh recheck 1:30 pm today

          Battery checks at 12.55v

          Between battery and starter motor pos. connection checks the same, 12.55

          Battery – to solenoid B&W starting checks at rest 0, at start 11.44

          Jumped with Ram 1500 new battery which was checking 12.6, 13.6 while running.
          While jumping, car battery checked the same 13.6
          While jumping, car battery neg to starter pos., at rest, checked same 13.6
          While jumping, car battery neg to solenoid B&W checked 0 at rest, 11.37 at start

            My thinking is that jumpstart readings at battery and starter pos make battery a moot point?

            The continuity check per Helms on S terminal (B&W wire) and M terminal (battery pos cable connect) shows no continuity; my thinking is that this points to a solenoid problem causing the open (worn contacts)?

              What is your reading between the metal body of the starter assembly and starter pos while you are trying to start?

                  Then your starter solenoid is bad. It’s not relaying the 12V into the starter motor. I would change the whole assembly.

                          After reading through I think it’s safe to say you need a starter. A couple of things to point out however is that static charge on a ‘good’ battery should be 12.6 or above. In addition just checking surface charge of a battery isn’t enough, you need to load test or conductance test it to assess it’s true condition.
