Hey guys. Iv got a 93 ford f150 with a 2 peace drive line.
I was on my way to Fargo ND last Saturday to bring my brother home for xmass…
      Im in oklahoma.
When I got to Ks city KS I noticed a vibration when on the gas but went away when I lifted of the gas.
I kept thinking It was the rear getting readdy to let go.

I pull off of hwy 470 at ext 2L (If anyone knows this area they know the BIG HILL WITH 4 lanes of traffic that is one way)

I came to a stop – merged over and BOOM clank bang – and oshit down the hill backwards on snow and ice I went. I some how drove back wards down this hill with out hitting anything on snow and ice…
I guess because of the big hill and all the snow and ice the truck did not wanna stop with the breaks. I just kept sliding.

After I got in some what of a safe spot and stopped (Steal blocking 4 lanes of traffic) I got under the truck to find the rear end yoke and drive shaft had snapped.
The rearend yoke was trashed and the unjoints in the driveline wear trashed….

I got a tow truck to tow me a few miles to a orailys…. New issue!!! The parts store is closed!! its 1045pm at night. and they dont open again until 9 tomorrow.

I sat in 18 degree weather all night. The next morning the part stores open and I find out they dont have the parts I need. (DEALER items) BUT they inform me of a pull apart down the road thats open on sundays (THANK GOD)

      SHORT STORY.
AFTER 20miles of walking in snow and ice I get back to my truck and install the new driveline.

So far the drive line has held up but I have a bad vibration between 30 – 40.
I dont notice the issue at 80 just between 30 – 40. It feel like a jake brake in a 18 wheeler.
on a scale of 1 to 10 between 30 and 40 its a 10 after 40 its a 0. What gets me is – You would think the issue would be worse at higher speeds!!!

I was told these drive lines have got to be lined up with the front drive line a certain way to help with balancing.

At first the issue was between 30 – 35 and I relined the drive line with the ujoints now the issue is between 30 -40 ishs….

Can some one tell me how to line up these two drive lines???

      Thanks!!!

Well from what iv read I have the driveline lined up right…. I think the drive shaft is bent from the loaded forks hitting it when the scrap yard got a hold of it. I can see 3 dings 2 of them as big as a sliver dollar/

If your seeing dings in the drive shaft. That will unbalance it.
Put the rear on jack stands.run the truck at 30-40 mph and watch
the drive line. is this a slip yolk design? when you picked up
the drive line was it together? If it was then I doubt it was moved.
I would say the dings are the unbalance. Do you have a drive line shop
          by you?

+1 If there is damage to the shaft this can account for the vibration. Rotating assemblies need to be straight and balanced, if not, they cause vibrations. At least you got back on the road.
