91 explorer speed odmoter

my 91 explorer speed odometer jumps all over the place when i drive and it was working yesterday fine i dont what it could be the only thing i have done to it to try to fix it was take off the battery cables and wait 5 Min’s and put them back but nothing so help me again

I believe your vehicle uses a cable.the cable should
go into the transmission.either the gear inside is bad
or the cable is bad.

Speedo gears of that vintage are often plastic and as a result they sometimes wear in the center like an ‘apple core’ which can produce a symptom similar to what you describe. Keep us posted.

ok it was the speedo cable when i had it in the shop they did something but im going to fix it my self in like 2 weeks and maybe put a video up on YouTube since i cant find one that help me out and maybe it will someone down the way thanks a lot
