91 honda cut off while I was driving and wouldn’t crank til I got a boost off. While car idles for 15 minutes,it cuts off again.I had battery tested, alternator tested still no solution.Could it be a shortage in wiring leading to alternator? Please help!Car cranks instantly when jump started.

with the car running, whats the voltage? does the voltage drop below 13.5v when under a load like your headlights and blower motor running and even a few power windows (if equipped) for good measure. If not, possible alternator problem

Does the battery read 12.5v with the car off, does it read 12v with lights and other stuff on. If not battery either needs to be recharged or replaced. Does it drop below 10v while engine is cranking? If yes check to make sure no belt pulleys are seized, if not then recharge or replace battery. Whats the age of the battery? 3-4 years and its probably time for a replacement

How did you “check” your system? did you get a second opinion?

We need more info. Based on the fact that the car cuts off, I’m leaning towards a battery/alternator problem, as a computer & starter failure combo is… unlikely. And reason I mentioned the pulleys, I had a good battery drop to 8v while trying to crank the car with a seized pulley.

Thanks for response Sovek. We got second opinion from a shop by having the alternator checked(4x).I believe you are correct because the battery was purchased Feb.2012.I recall this battery carrying the car when I found out about eight months ago the alternator was bad .Alternator was replaced in June, and the starter was replaced in September.

Check the resistance of your coil. If it is out of speck, replace it. Next make sure you are running the correct spark plugs. They are inexpensive at Honda, and they will make sure you get the right ones for your car. Also check the resistance of your spark plug wires. Check for oil in your distributor cap.

this isnt an ignition problem, we can tell that because it requires a jump to start again, and once it does it cuts off.
