my friends honda civic is leaking brake fluid somewhere. the light on the dash comes on telling him that its time to add more fluid thus he is constantly having to pull over and top off the master. to the best of my ability i’ve inspected the car and the master cylinder is bone dry the lines and fittings are bone dry. where is the fluid going? can a master cylinder leak internally inside the brake booster? thus needing a new master and brake booster? the brake pedal is functioning normal as he is able to stop the car without problems.

yea its possible for break fluid too leak into the master cylinder but not as common as leaks through rusty break lines… what does his pedal feel like?
and what i would do is just have a look at the break lines first, if you find any break lines that are wet, rub your finger across them and have a stiff, break fluid has a very similar smell too permanent marker and feels kinda warm and grippey between your fingers.
look on the inside of the car where it comes through the firewall.
see if its wet.+1 on that
if you have fluid leaking into the break booster typically you will see it leaking near where the linkage for the break pedal is.
