My 4runner consumes oil (not a unique issues with 22RE).
I have never had a drop of oil hit the pavement with this truck. Most people wouldn’t wouldn’t categorize this engine as ‘leaking’.
However, I do burn/consume oil. I am not ready/interested in rebuilding the motor yet, which would solve this problem.
How would I decide if I should use conventional oil (less expensive), or synthetic oil (more expensive).
I have used Royal Purple in every ‘newer’ auto/motorcycle I have owned and have been pleased.
I’m just having a hard time figuring out if I should spend the money on RP for this engine, or dump conventional into it since it burns oil.
Any advice/opinions welcome. Would be nice to hear Eric comment on this caveat though considering his videos on Syn v Conv Oil videos. It’s not a ‘visible’ leak, but I know it is leaking into the combustion chamber.
