Well, I figured I’d make a thread on my lil Vw rabbit project.
It has 88,900 original miles on it, It has all new adjustable shocks and eurosport strut braces. It came with aftermarket wheels and tire but i did not really like them so i put the stock ones on it that came with it. The guy who had it before kinda made it a rat style rabbit meaning it’s in great mechanical shape but the body had surface rust and need the carpet, dash and head liner replaced.
I will post some links time to time on a image hosting site and maybe some youtube videos.

        Part two of my update.
The sell a repair panel for this but it was like $35 bucks, so instead I just fixed the bad spot for like $1. 😛

Here it is after just tacking it in.

Thanks. they are ok but could be better cause the steel was still a bit dirty there.

Have not been doing much with the rabbit lately, just some priming and sanding cause I’ve been real busy.
I’m actually looking for another project car (very small project) to buy, fix and sell.
I’ll make a post when I buy something interesting.

                Quick ‘lil update for ya.
I’ve just been doing more body work and trying to get it all ready for paint.
I am putting all new black interior in it, I made my first new door panel today.
Still need to dye/paint the handle and trim, the window rubber is out right now so it will look finished when that’s in.

Oh yeah, Remember those wheels I posted pics of when i first started this thread?
I was just messing around and thought I might try to see if they would fit my ’98 nissan sentra.., they did.
Don’t know how I like them though.
I will take a pic of it when I get a chance and make it it’s own thread. 🙂

                      I’ll post some pics soon.
I pulled the engine and tranny out to clean it up and paint under the hood.
                      I’ve just been really busy.

                        Quoted From Trcustoms719:

                        Quick little update.
Today I got a little bit of time to work on the rabbit.
Pretty much finished with the pillar post, I also took off the two fenders today and found someone has packed a couple holes in them full of filler.
They are pretty much crap so I think I’m going to buy new ones or good used ones if i can find them instead of spending hours fixing these ones.

from my experience its better off to buy a good used fender/wing and respraying it yourself rather than buy an after market one where there is a beyond obvious difference in quality, well there is here in the U.K.

what are your plans for the alloys? there not too bad but maybe sell them off to put some funds in the piggy bank, i would recommend getting some Ats cup alloys.. look so good on old VW’s.

Looking good so far well done, Good luck and keep the updates coming!!

I have not been able to find used fenders so I guess I’ll be fixing the ones I have.
I still have not got around to getting pictures up…… maybe this week

Here is why there has not been an update.
I’m doing a ABA 2.0 (from a ’94 jetta) swap in my rabbit.I just got the engine bolted in today.

I love them old 1.6 diesels. So easy, and bombproof. Plus you can tune em to roll a lot of coal when you step on it!

As for the timing tools you can fudge it. I used to use a bit of flat stock steel to lock the cam and a drill bit for the pump. The only part you cant make due with is a good dial guage and the adaptor for the back of the pump.
