      Hello,
I’m new to the forum, but have been subscribed to the youtube channel for years. I have a 1968 Chevy C10 250 six cylinder 3 speed on the column. It has been in my family from 1973 and the odometer has returned to 00000.0 four times so now it has 591000 miles on it(engine was rebuilt at 567000 but everything else is original.) It is mostly stock but I recently replaced the points with an HEI distributor. It has a pulsation that coincides with the speed of the wheels turning. It occurs in all gears and goes away when I press the clutch or go to neutral. There is no noise associated with it. I have replaced all four brakes also replaced front wheel bearings. I topped off the oil in the transmission and the rear end. I can usually figure out any problems with this truck but this one has got me. Thank you in advance.

That’s a cool looking vehicle you have and congrats on the mileage. I’m not familiar with the older stuff, but compared to my past problem around 55-65mph under load (93 camry – auto), it was a transmission issue that ended up seizing 15k miles later. I had no noise and no symptoms other than vibration that 3 different shops never diagnosed correctly. It might be worth sticking a camera into the trans to see how everything looks. Someone with more experience can help you better than me.

Hope that’s not the case I don’t know if I can find a 3 speed manual transmission anymore.

When was the clutch, pressure plate, flywheel and throw out bearing last serviced??
            May need replacing.
As to replacement parts for your Muncie transmission..
Might start here and make some inquires.

It’s been a while ago that I replaced the clutch, pressure plate and throw out bearing. Can’t remember the mileage but it was well before the engine rebuild. I think it was in 99 or 2000. Clutch doesn’t slip at all though.

Might have a look at them…
Also have the flywheel check for warping.

Has the truck taken any hard knocks underneath? When I think of a pulsation, I suspect a tweaked drive shaft or U joints.

No hard knocks recently but it does go up and down a 1/4 mile creek bed every day.

Was tinkering around under my truck today and noticed a leak around the front of the differential and noticed there is a lot of slack. I can turn the driveshaft a good 1/8 turn without the rear wheels starting to turn. I’m thinking maybe time to rebuild the diff. Is an 1/8 turn normal, I wouldn’t think so but not sure.
