GENERATION 3 Hemi engines use the behive valve springs. After 100,000 miles there is a problem with the springs getting weak and breaking (collapsing). symptoms and codes are a misfire on any of the 8 cylinders. Idle and drivablility is very poor. To verify, check compression, leak down if you feel nessesary or simply remove the vavle cover. You will find a valve spring completely collapsed. The valve spring from chrysler is 8.00 and looks totally different than the ones that break. They are reinforced. Obviously this is for those that have tested ignition to no avail. Chrysler makes a special tool kit (http://straighttalkautomotive.com/liquidation/miller8999.html)for removal and installation inside the vehicle. In that tool kit is a long piece of plexy glass used to hold up the pushrods for re-installation of the rocker arm assembly. Very very useful. if you have ever done this job without it you know what i am talking about. Very common problem hope this helps some of you.
