Hello, I have a 2006 Impala SS. The driver side output shaft seal makes a squeaking noise between 1-4 mph. 5mph and over it is silent and there is zero fluid leaks. The squeaking is present both with the car on the ground and up in the air with the wheel off. The CV shaft has no play and show no sign of wear or failure. Does anyone know if this a benign nuisance or is this part in need of replacement as its at risk of failure soon? Transmission is a 4T65E-HD.

according to this there is an inner and outer seal. see if this procedure helps.
Thank for the reply. The illustrations provided look to be for the passenger (differential) side and not the driver side. Passenger side is way more pia than driver side; however driver side would still require about two to three hours of work for me. I’m trying to find out if this is a sign of failure or not.

Its never a good sign when something squeaks. It could work like this for years.
If the noise bothers you go in and do the seals. hard to give a failure prediction.
It most likely won’t get better.
