      Hey all!

So I was all set on rebuilding a transmission from a Saturn when at the last second the guy sells the car before I can buy it. I even bought the rebuild manual! I was set on doing another rebuild video series so I got my hands on a 4L60E transmission out of a 1995 Chevy truck (4WD). This transmission is the same as the 700R4. The best thing is, I didn’t even have to buy another manual, it uses the same manual as my 3T40 tranny rebuild!

This time around I slowed things down and did a voice over explaining each step. The only exception is Part 1, where I put some background music in (Crappy music.. I used YouTubes music so I wouldn’t have any copyright claims).

I only had to buy one special tool for about 70 bucks on ebay. The procedures and measurements from the factory service manual were all followed to the letter. All clearances were checked and within specs. The only measurement not on camera is the input shaft end play.

Here it is! 11 videos, totaling about 2 hours in length.

PART 1: VALVEBODY AND PUMP REMOVAL

PART 2: GEAR TRAIN REMOVAL AND INSPECTION

PART 3: VALVEBODY AND PUMP DISASSEMBLY

PART 4: PUMP / VALVEBODY SERVICE AND CASE COMPONENTS REMOVAL

PART 5: PAINTING AND SEALS REPLACEMENT

PART 6: REVERSE INPUT DRUM AND INPUT CLUTCH ASSEMBLE

PART 7: INPUT DRUM ASSEMBLY AND SOME BUSHINGS REPLACEMENT

PART 8: BUSHINGS AND SEALING RINGS REPLACEMENT

PART 9: FINAL TOUCHES BEFORE REASSEMBLY

PART 10: REASSEMBLY OF PUMP AND GEAR TRAIN

      PART 11: FINISHING REASSEMBLY

Scanned through your videos! Fantastic. I will definitely use this as a guide when I get the nerve to rebuild my 4T65E. It had been rebuilt once, but has started slipping again.

Thank you! You know, I just got a car with a 4T65E transmission. The guy thought it was bad and I was all set on rebuilding it and making videos for it, until I realized the transmission was fine! All the fluid just leaked out and that is why it wasn’t working.

Anyway make sure you get the factory rebuild manual. It is a MUST.
