Having problems with my 4×4. The transfer case engages fine when I shift but the tires don’t turn. Any ideas please help.

More information is needed. Year, make, model, and possibly type of 4 wheel drive. Does it have lock-outs or shift on the fly?

Its a93 s10 blazer shift on fly. I replaced the 4×4 actuator because the old one had a rip in the rubber but the wheels still won’t kick in.

Its a common problem on that model for the 4wd vacuum switch on the transfer case to stick. you can see it on top of the transfer case just above the drive shaft it has 3 vacuum hoses attached. you will need a 7/8 or 22mm wrench to remove it. also you should check the condition of the vacuum hoses. 1 hose goes to a vacuum source 1 to the vacuum actuator you just replaced and 1 is a vent to release the vacuum when shifted back to 2wd

+++1 on the above.I think one of the vacuum lines
run under the battery tray.trace the lines back.
              check for breakage.

++1! I’ve run into this a time or 2 myself and it is a very common problem.

I removed the switch and it moved freely so I applied a little grease and put it back. The lines were full of what looked like tranny fluid ? Any other thoughts? I want to try removing hubs and cleaning and greasing them. Do y’all think that would be a waste.

That model doesn’t have hubs that lock and unlock. Rather there is a coupler that locks the axles to the carrier inside the diff assm.

First verify that it is trans fluid in your lines. If so i would still suspect the switch. The fluid in your transfer case is ATF(trans fluid)and could only enter the lines through the Vac switch.

Another test you can do is to try to manually engage the diff by moving the diaphragm on the actuator you replaced. Squeeze it the direction that pulls the cable and the diff should engage. If it does then you have eliminated the diff as a possible problem. You have also eliminated the cable between the actuator and the diff.
