Hey all,
I have a funny little problem. I am rebuilding the transmission on my 98 Chevy Cavalier (3T40 Transmission) and everything has been going great so far except..
I am in the “re-assembly” phase and I have found that the rebuild kit did not come with the same amount of steels as was originally in the car.
For example, the direct clutch drum had 5 steels in it, but the kit only came with 4. They are both the same thickness so I don’t know what the deal is. Same story for the Forward clutch packs and the Low/Reverse clutch packs. As for the friction disks, I have one extra. I don’t know what is going on here because everything else in the kit has been spot on exactly the same.
My old steels are in good shape and I was thinking of just re-using them. I don’t know how many people here have experience rebuilding an auto-trans, but any advice would be appreciated!
