Hey all, I have a Buick with the 3800 Series III motor and when I get my tax return I’m picking up ZZP’s ER Ratio Rockers and HV3 Insert. Rockers add 16whp at 3400-4800 rpm and the insert adds 30whp at 5800-6k +rpms

I have a few questions on the instillation of the rockers. The are split-ratio, 1.84 intake and 1.8 exhaust vs 1.6 stock. They can be used with the stock valve train unless I plan on moving the shift points above 6k rpm.

My question is on installation. All I’m going to do is pull the intake and valve covers to install these mods, so I won’t be able to look at the valves directly. I was wondering how to tell intake from exhaust pushrods. I’ve heard some of GM’s v6 motors use shorter exhaust pushrods, but I have no clue if that applies to the 3800.

Feel like an idiot now. Didn’t even think to just look for the valve adjacent to the exhaust manifold.

Parts came in Saturday, got em installed Saturday night. The engine is much more responsive and pulls a bit harder across the entire powerband. At a later point I’m going to grab a tune and throw some stronger valve springs in. Stock ones are fine up but they’re going to wear out quicker. I’m thinking with #105 springs, The #90 springs are reported to be too much for the stock chain due to being a variable rate spring.

would have replied but i was on hyatous. the 3800 is a 90 degree V6, the 3100 3400 3500 3900 they are all 60 degree V6 engines, since there cylinder banks are narrower the pushrods ride over the intake gasket, with the 3800 its a 90 degree V6 so the pushrods are under the intake gaskets, but to replace rockers you don’t need to remove the lower intake on either.

one important note about ratio rockers, since they actuate the valves more, keep in mind this puts more stress on the stock valves, so don’t over do t, though ZZP parts are pretty reliable and trustworthy.
