Hello,
I have a 2011 Nissan Altima 2.5 SL and when I use my MaxiDAS DS708 scan tool there is a category called “CVTF POOR QUALITY DETERMINED” under the transmission section. I was wondering if anyone knew one this means? I attached two picture screen shots of my diagnostics tool. I am not having any issues at all, more just curious. Thanks!

First off nice scan tool. Second I can’t find anything on it. The scan tool won’t
go into any detail? I would clear it and see if it comes back. Where did you get the
scan tool? 800.00 and some change?I would guess it would mean your Continuously Variable Transmission has some issue. Not sure what the F is for… fluid? Function?
May want to call the dealer for more info on that…
At this point in time I don’t trust CVT’s. Nissan is now putting them in almost everything they make (and have for a while) but they have had many issues…
They have even extended the warranty on several models for the transmission

I got lucky and bought it on Craigs List for $400.00. The gentleman hadn’t registered it yet so I was able to get a free 2017 update. It works well. The “CVTF POOR QUALITY DETERMINED” is NOT a trouble code. It is a feature under the special functions and maintenance. It gives me the option to clear it but, I fear it may cause a drive-ability problem if it is a adaptive setting for something. My assumption is it is the fluid quality monitor. I did do a basic drain and refill on the CVT last summer. Nissan doesn’t know anything about their cars from my experience. Like I have mentioned, I am not having any issues. Just more curious. Thanks guys!!
after looking at the FSM for this (http://www.nicoclub.com/manuals/Altima/2011%20altima/TM.pdf), It looks like this is pointing to the CVT Fluid. Althoough the wording is not the same as your scan tool (which I’m jelous of), it looks like ther is some sort of fluid monitor for teh transmission.

Hopefully its just a maintenance reminder from a certain mileage. To tell Nissan
if the fluid is due or not. I just did a little research on the updates after the one year
free update is up. 695.00 a year ouch. :pinch:
