i’m considering a 2011 ford fusion se with the 2.5 inline 4 and wondering if there are any problems that tend to arise. plus it was used as a fleet car so my dad is already leery. any input helps! 🙂

My apology for not seeing this post before now because, I don’t navigate ETCG that much.

Mostly I remember general satisfaction from customers on the Fusion. I did do transmission work on them and program updates….but mostly on the 6 cyl. I really remember SYNC system issues mainly because of customer misunderstanding. Techies loved it.

I was a Tech at a Chevy /Ford dealer and sometimes put on the Ford line for vacation relief because of previous employment at Ford dealers….so I’m really not a good source of info…

In my opinion…Ford in general makes good cars and trucks, but with that said… I hate working on them because they are hard to work on. Some of their engineering…. is not worth talking about because it gives me acid reflex. The easiest Ford I worked on in a Ford dealership was the 00-07 Taurus 2 valve 3.0L…I called it the Ford Impala…Other than that…working on engines, transmissions and some electronics was very hard for me to do.

Another concern I have the car being a fleet car. In my opinion…rental cars are not a car to own. If you already bought the car, make sure you go over it very carefully and address any issue. Don’t back down on your complaints.

I worked at a dealer that sold fleet cars as used cars and you can’t believe the issues and lawsuits that came about.

Remember…If you bought the car…. Don’t back down on your complaints.

Well what do you have to say about working on chevys?

From what I heard is the New ecotec3 engines are made to be easier to do maintenance on. Or thats what GM says.

              I’m retired now…thank GOD!!!!

The last two engines I did were a 1.4 Cruze and a 3.6 Traverse. They gave me 4.2 Hrs.for R&R the 1.4 Cruze and 1.5 Hrs. for tear down, inspection and reassemble. The 3.6 Traverse (Ford in disguise) they gave me 5.6 R&R and 1.5 for tear down, inspection and reassemble.

The last transmission I did was a six speed in a Cruze and the time was 4.2 hrs for a clutch pack issue.

This all happened in a two week period and my total flagged time was 25 hrs out of 80 guaranteed.
The dealer was going to knock my guarantee down to 24 hrs.per week and put me on probation. The Union didn’t fight for me so I kept my mouth shut. On the third week I was given a 3500 Duramax with a bad crankshaft.

I finished that one and retired…..and took my Chevy to the levee. :woohoo:
