So the car overheated several times which cause to a blown head gasket. Coolant is leaking into the cylinders, I opened opened the plugs and turnes the engine then a bunch of water sprayed out of the plug holes.

Anyway, I’m taking the head apart to change the head gasket. It’s a 4 cylinder engine.
Do I need to check lower half gaskets? Or only change the upper half gasket? Do I need to worry about piston rings gaps?

I’m re-surfing the cylinder head and will check the block with a machine shop.

      Any Advices?

      Regards,

If the head is going to be off I would regasket anything there. Piston rings should not be an issue.
        Pistons are not being removed?

Yes I am going to replace all upper half gaskets (manifold, intake, head, throttle body).

No the block will still be attached to the car, I’m only removing the head.
