      Hello,

I have a 2011 Nissan Altima 2.5 SL that has developed a near stall situation when making abrupt stops or sometimes when coming to a stop normally. The RPM’s will drop to 500 or slightly below and then it catches it’s self and idles back up to normal to prevent stalling. Also sometimes the idle will drop below normal when qll ready at a stop with headlights on and/or turn signal on. I have about 59,000 miles on my Altima, the oil is changed with full synthetic every 4,000 miles and has a newer air filter. The battery was replaced a couple months ago and the charging system was tested and all checked out good. I did a drain and refill on the CVT a year ago and had Nissan Flush and replace the coolant last March for preventative measures. This issue started about a year ago and hasn’t gotten any worse. The near stall condition when coming to a stop doesn’t happen every time. I have no check engine lights or stored codes. The vehicle doesn’t consume any oil and the plugs look good and clean. Also the Plug wells are clean and NOT leaking oil around valve cover gaskets “yet”. I have not cleaned the throttle body yet in fear of the relearn process being and issues. I have read horror stories of people cleaning the throttle body and the car not running right after.

Any Advice would be great! Thank you in advance.

Have you tried cleaning the throttle body?

Hello. Like I mentioned in my topic I haven’t attempted to clean the throttle body in fear of causing a bigger issues or idle relearn issue. I’ve read horror stories of people cleaning these throttle bodies and the car not running right after words.

            Sorry, I missed that part.

Not sure if this will work on Nissans, but I’ve done a TB cleaning by having KOEO and then pinning the gas pedal to the floor. Take TB cleaner on a rag and carefully wipe the surfaces where the TB meets the butterfly.

There is a reset procedure in this thread (http://www.clubfrontier.org/forums/f8/throttle-body-cleaning-dealer-76361/), but I’m not sure I would trust it.

What you do clean is remove the air ducting to expose the tb.
Remove the 4 fasteners. Do not unplug the tb harness. Lay rags
right there and lay the tb on the rags face down. Clean it with tb
cleaner. Once cleaned put the tb back on. Air ducting back on.
Start the car and it should run fine.
