Keep us updated too. Did you notify them that your place of employment has been using the incorrect oil for that type of engine also?

Yes thanks for the update and based on your post I would agree that you’ve done everything you can but the fact that they won’t let you use the correct oil makes the diagnosis incomplete in my opinion but since it’s out of your hands I wouldn’t’ worry about it, perhaps if that find incorrect oil to be the cause they will change their policy on ‘one oil fits all’ which will help prevent future problems not just with that vehicle but with others as well, to me that view seems very short sighted, there are other ways to save money after all.

Hey everyone, I have an update on my issue!

Car is back from dealer. I talked with tech that worked on it and he reprogrammed the ecm. The service manager said he has never replaced an ecm in

that particular vehicle. The tech told me that he has seen alot of wiring problems in a certain spot under the vehicle where the harness wraps around the oil pan.

needless to say the engine light came back on, same code, so we all agreed to replace the engine harness cause it is britle and stiff. and if that dont solve the ‘

problem they said bring it back and would put ecm in. They did not mention anything about correct oil type being an issue. So its back to the drawing board.

Harness will be in in about a week so i will update then with what ever happens.

Did you mention the wrong oil viscosity issue to the tech? I’m curious if this would solve it? guess we won’t know
for now. thanks for the progress update. keep us postedC8-)

That’s funny because I would think a simple oil change would be easy enough to do to rule that out.

Hello Everyone, So after almost 3 months later i have an update for my 2010 chevy impala 3.9L P0010 code that just would not go away kepping me from inspecting the vehicle. I ordered the engine harness which had to be special made because no one in the country had one, and was shipped from Detroit, Michigan. That took 2 1/2 months. So I installed harness and all my problems went away!!! So thank you for all your suggestions and comments and hopefully this thread will help others with this particular problem!

                  THE END V-)

Wow that was unexpected but a welcome addition to the forum, I’ll be sure to file this one in the mental rolodex for future reference. Keep us posted if things change and thanks for using the ETCG forum.
