My 2010 Element has overheated twice in the past couple of days. Also the a/c does not cool efficiently when idling. I can feel and hear the system struggling when I am sitting in traffic. I thought I needed to recharge the a/c. When I connected the hose to the service port the pressure is all the way in the red area showing the pressure to be way higher than its supposed to be.
The radiator and reservoir are both full. After watching the video on letting trapped air out of the cooling system I am convinced that is the problem but I can’t find where to let the air out. Please help!

A over charged AC system is not good.
It can put an excessive load on the engine, cause damage to the system also cause the engine to run hotter and cool poorly etc.
First question would be how did the system become over charged.
Might consider having a professional examine the AC to determine its condition.

          1. check to make sure the cooling fans are operating properly.
          2. There is a possibility that the expansion valve for the A/C is stuck closed.
          3. Make sure the system is not over charged.

check the fuse for the fan/fans. If the fuses are good swap relays.

Both the radiator AND reservoir are full? You mean the reservoir is up to the top or just the hot/cold line?

I assume you saw the Eric video on getting trapped air out of the cooling system? I tried it with a make shift funnel and didn’t really have success until I got a sealed one like shown in the video. It made a ton of difference and I thin, unfortunately, showed I had another problem!

I definitely need to do this. Both of the cooling fans were shot, we replaced them successfully but sometimes I can still hear the compressor struggling.

I changed out both cooling fans but I cannot find the expansion valve.
