2010 Ford Edge passenger side mirror

options…Power,heated, memory.
mirror has a plastic attachment that connects it to electric motor. The mirror has dislodged from motor and the plastic tabs that hold it in place are broke. Ford told me the whole mirror has to be replaced including the housing which only comes in black therefore will need to be painted total cost after taxes $900 I might add that the motor and heater and memory functions all still work.
my question is can this not be repaired instead of the whole mirror assembly being replaced I don’t mind paying for necessary parts but not stuff I don’t need
