I have recently bought a 2010 dodge journey and the factory OEM command start does not work. What is the easiest way to reset the computer as I thought I would start there.

When I use the remote to start the vehicle the door locks work and it beeps at me but just wont start via the remote. The remote works perfectly for unlocking and locking the doors and starting the journey.

What do you guys suggest to do?

      Thanks

So this is what I have done. I have disconected the battery for 30 min to reset the computer but no luck with the remote start. When I use the remote to try and start it it goes through everything like its gonna start but it just shuts off and then the security lite blinks in the dash. This has me stumped.

        Any suggestions would be awesome.

        Thanks

Sounds to me like the remote start module isn’t calibrated for the car. Seems you mash a button on it, and the car sorta responds, but not the way it ought.

When the security light flashes, that to me indicates that VATS (or whatever Dodge has that is comparable) is engaged, and you won’t be able to start/run it at all, honestly.

This one might be a dealership trip, if it isn’t an after-market module…

Are there any CELs or other warning indicators on? Windows up, doors closed, hood closed. Are you pressing the correct buttons in the correct manner? There should be a manual specifically for the remote start, if it’s not in the vehicle the dealer should be able to get one for you. “Factory” remote starts are a lot more picky about starting conditions than aftermarket ones.
