The rear defroster in my 2009 Impala does not work. The car has 91k miles. I don’t think there is a fuse for it like I expected there to be. I looked in the fuse boxes but there’s no defroster fuse. The light still lights up on the button like it’s working but the window stays fogged. Not sure how to fix this. Thanks for the help 🙂

Go look for/at the connectors for the heater grid on the glass. Make sure the wires are still connected. There should be two connectors and they might be on the opposite sides of the glass.

You need to check – with voltmeter – for 12V at the above mentioned connectors. If you have 12V at them, then there is a circuit disruption somewhere in the grid itself. Usually, if entire defroster does not work, it’s lack of 12V to the grid or, the 12V connector simply fell off/gaped on the glass. They are glued to the grid and with GM crappy quality, slight factory gap slowly increases/oxidizes, resulting in no contact. Btw, in law’s Corolla had same issue, but funny as it is, GM and Toyota have tendency to share same silly problems.

the defroster fuse and/or replay would be in the fuse box under the hood
