Hi everyone,
I just bought a 2009 F250 from a dealer without a warranty. It was a small Ford dealership in Ohio and I must say that I was very impressed with how well the purchase process went. The truck runs great and rode very nicely on the test drive and the two hour long drive home. However, the truck now has some front end issues. A few days ago I noticed a humming noise almost like I had mud tires on it. I thought I narrowed it down to a bad bearing behind the hub on the passenger side which was indeed bad. I replaced the bearing and the slop in that axle shaft has now gone away. The noise still exists. I jacked the front end up today and found that the passenger side upper ball joint is shot, and the road noise is coming from the drivers wheel bearing/hub. A buddy of mine is saying to replace the hubs as a pair instead of just replacing the bad one. Being that they are $400 an piece I’m leaning towards just replacing the bad one. As for the ball joint I suppose an alignment will be necessary afterwords? Also, the dealer did replace the U joints on the front axle, so they are good. Thanks in advance.
