      Greeting everyone~
I have a 2008 Honda Civic, Auto Transmission. I live in cold climate (about -20 C), but I do plug in my car with engine heating block over the night. and remote starter will warm up the car for 10 minutes before I start driving.
Recently I found as soon as I put in Reverse, there is this noise alone with more vibration through the floor(I’m not sure where exactly the vibration is from, I can feel it from the door, through the steering wheel, through the floor.. ) but Drive is fine, Neutral has the same issue, Park position has the same issue but not as heavy as it sounds like~
only transmission job done is ATF change(half a year ago), and I let Honda dealer do that job.
so, anyone has any clue? is it just a cold weather thing(it was fine last winter…)? I thought I should mention here before I leave to dealer and spending $$$ on her~
      Thanks for reading this 🙂

        Check your engine/transaxle mounts…

A couple of suggestions that may help you.

1: back into the driveway half the time.
( so half the time you put it into drive instead of reverse )
2: take the car for short slow drives a few minutes after starting.
( then let the car sit and finish warming up ).

see if the car behaves differently after a week or two.

This is actually quite common with Honda 4 cylinders and is likely nothing you really need to worry about. Toyota Karl may be onto something with the engine mounts however. In that cold climate, they would be much stiffer and transfer a lot more vibration into the passenger compartment. The noise you hear is likely the exhaust or some other part of the engine changing pitch as the engine moves. As I said, likely nothing to worry about.

Keep us posted if things change however.
