I just purchased a 2008 Honda Accord EX-L Sedan V6 with 94k on the odometer. I am new to import vehicles as I have only driven domestic automobile brands in the past. I just had my church mechanic (so I trust him plus he does AMAZING work) complete a full tune up including a timing belt and spark plugs. Now I know a decent amount about cars so I like to know and purchase all the parts that go into my new Honda. Now the reason for this post is that the car did not come with the owners manual so I ordered one. After all the parts were installed and all the mechanical work was performed I discovered I used the wrong spark plugs for my car. Now, there are no check engine lights or computer codes and the car runs great! According to the manual I used the NGK spark plugs for the ULEV model engine instead of the NGK spark plugs for my PZEV Honda model. According to NGK website the differences between the two plugs is the NGK 92924 (that I should have used) has two electrodes with one on the bottom and the plugs I used are the NGK 775 is just a normal laser iridium plug.. The plugs that my mechanic pulled from the engine were not the right plugs either, yet the car still passed smog. My question is, will using the NGK 7751 intended for the ULEV engine instead of the NGK 92924 plugs designed for my engine harm my engine or cat system? I have only driven 3200 miles on these plugs when I discovered my mistake. Thanks for your time!
