      Hey Guys,

Been trying to figure out this issue i have with the air conditioning in my 2007 nissan sentra. Basically what happens is i’ll put on the ac set it to max ac and set the temps to cold and it’ll be cold really cold and it’ll last for roughly 15 minutes to maybe 45 minutes tops. The lowest amount of time I’ve gone from cold air to not cold was roughly 5-10 minutes. Not sure exactly what is going on but when I check under the hood the Clutch on the Air Compressor stops spinning. The only way to get it to come back on is to let the car sit or not try the AC for a while. Now I’ve tried everything I could think of under the sun. I will list below in the order I’ve done these things and hopefully you guys may be able to figure out what is causing the issue. Any help would be appreciated guys thank you.

      Things I’ve tried in order.
      1. Checked pressure, dumped freon, filled with new.
      2. Replaced AC Pressure switch
      3. Replaced AC Clutch
      4. Replaced Air Compressor
      5. Replaced Condenser with Receiver/dryer (accumulator?)
      6. Checked Pressure, dumped freon made sure both L and H were proper levels using a shops AC machine.

All these things I’ve tried and the AC only stays cold for no more than 45 minutes. The next thing I am going to try is to replace the V Belt and the Belt Tensioner. I doubt that will do anything but they are starting to get a bit worn anyway. I also replaced spark plugs last year have no idea if it can affect it but just letting you guys know. let me know if you guys need anything else. Thank You for your time!

If the clutch is not engaged, it seems like a control side issue. I would check the clutch circuit while it is misbehaving.

Thanks for the response i’ll give that a shot! But the clutch engages initially right off the bat its always cold but after 15-30 or so minutes the clutch stops engaging. so I should still check on the control side? and sorry i’m not that versed in car stuff. What would the control side be? I have replaced the clutch on the ac compressor before as well as changing the ac compressor completely.

by the control side, it is the signal that tells the clutch to engage. So basically the voltage that engages the magnetic coil. So when it misbehaves, check to make sure there is voltage (while loaded) across the coil.
