Hey everyone please let me know if you can help !
2007 Honda accord Brake too soft ,
When the car is off and I pump the brakes the pedal feels hard and stiff but when i turn on the car the pedal starts to feel all mushy and I have to push it almost to the floor to even stop the car it has brake fluid full but it has this little black rubber thing inside of it and Im not sure if it should be pushed it or out (like a suckion cup) The fuild is gray ish I know it may need to be changed but I think I may just need to bleed the brakes and also does anyone know if Honda does a re-call for airbags/transmission if the is salvage ?

      > also on carcomplaints.com everyone says the brakes on the honda accord 07 model are bad.

Gray in color? I’ve seen brown, even black, but not gray. Sounds contanimated with something. Soft pedal is caused by either air in the system or a bad master cylinder, can be other thigns as well but not as common.

Good break fluid is clear, like water. It also naturally sucks moisture out of the air, which is called hygroscopic. As the color changes, it becomes less clear. When it looks like coffee or syrup, that is because all the moisture it absorbed is rusting the steel brake lines from the inside out. Dot 3 new fluid from a sealed bottle, any brand is fine. Eric has some great videos on brake flushing.
It’s a cheap way to get a huge wow factor in your brakes.

Check for brake fluid leaks and condition of pads. Bleed the brakes if it does not work better most likely a master cylinder problem. Not to difficult, did my first master cylinder on my civic last year. Lots of really good videos on youtube.

Be sure to check the condition of the rubber flex hoses at the front and rear. If they show any signs of splitting and cracking, replace them. The quality of automotive rubber seems to have deteriorated during the last two decades, and rubber components simply don’t last as long as they used to.
